What Causes Anxiety?

There are various factors that may cause anxiety disorders in a person. Some of them include medical factors, brain chemistry, genetics, substance abuse, environmental factors or a mix of these. Today, life has become so hectic and stressful that it can trigger anxiety disorders quite easily. Typically, anxiety is a reaction caused due to external forces. However, there is a possibility that some people feel anxious due to negative self-talk. Negativity and developing a habit of believing that the worst can happen is not good at all.

You can try out these tips if you feel stressed or anxious

You should regularly eat meals that are well-balanced
It is not recommended to skip a meal. Always ensure that you have energy-boosting and healthy snacks at your disposal.

Take some time out to pamper yourself
Do whatever makes you cheerful. Activities like listening to soulful music, practicing meditation and yoga or engaging yourself in certain relaxation techniques, can definitely help you to step back from your problems and soothe your mind.

Do not compromise with your sleeping hours
If you lead a stressful life, you should ensure that your body gets enough rest and sleep every night.

Rest your intake of caffeine and alcohol
Too much alcohol or caffeine can trigger your panic attacks and increase your anxiety level.

You should accept the fact that everything is not controllable
Think carefully about what could be triggering your stress and anxiety. Do you think it is as severe as you believe it to be?

Positive attitude does help to calm your mind
You should make a conscious effort to ensure that your negative emotions and thoughts are replaced with positive ideas and feelings.

Know what causes you anxiety
Try to introspect and know how your anxiety gets triggered. Does your work pressure make you anxious? Or there is some kind of a personal problem? You can note down whenever you feel anxious or stressed out. Did you observe a specific pattern?
