Children with ADHD are characterized by having very short attention spans, bursts of positive and negative moods, abnormal behavior and poor memory and concentration. Neurofeedback can help train your child’s brain and regulate their brain activity and functioning.

ADHD stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and is a very common disorder in children. It can be quite a complex disorder that can affect your child’s life, behavior and well-being in different ways. ADHD causes many other harmful side effects such as weight loss, amnesia, and decreased appetite. That is why it is extremely important to give your child the proper treatment if they have ADHD.

Neurofeedback for ADHD treatment

Neurofeedback can help your child regulate their brain activity and improve their learning, cognitive and concentration skills at school. Children with ADHD find it very difficult to concentrate so telling them to pay attention won’t do much good. But neurofeedback training by a certified Clinician, can teach your child how to make their brain more effective and efficient and be more attentive when it is required to be.

A neurofeedback therapy session will have the therapist attach sensors to your child’s head which will study and analyze his brain activity. These sensors are connected to a monitor  where you can see your child’s brain wave patterns. Then the therapist will instruct your child to perform certain tasks and study the monitor accordingly. Your child will then be instructed to observe the monitor while performing the given tasks and look at their brain activity. This way your child is encouraged to control their own brain activity The therapist will try different strategies to keep your child focused and see if there is any change in his brain function. Then the successful strategies are implemented in real life situations once the sensors are taken off.
